How can a consumer determine movies available for rental at a theatre?
I have the theatre, but I cannot get them to get a movie I want
booked. I mean older movies, that came out years ago. Apparently,
there is some sort of agency that they deal with. I'd like to hook
up with that business and try to get a film myself.

There are a number of such agencies, as well as many, many older 35mm
films available for rental. I'll gladly compile a listing of agencies,
or I'd be happy to see if I can track down the exact movie you're
looking for.

Thanks for asking!

You didn't mention what part of the world you're in, so I'll list a
number of possibilities. There are quite a few film distributors. You
may need to know the exact projector format in order to obtain the
right size and version of the desired film. It's very likely that 35mm
films will be the ticket, but I've included several 16mm sources,
"just in case."
