Some interesting information about John Mcconnell who leads a course
on Buddhist mediation and conflict resolution has worked in Sri Lanka
as a mediator.

"John McConnell, who is an honorary research fellow, continues his
work on the interface between spirituality and peacemaking. His recent
book Mindful Mediation - A Handbook for Buddhist Peacemakers examines
the applicability of Buddhist psychology to resolving conflict. His
current research on mediation initiatives undertaken by Buddhist
peacemakers involves work with Buddhist monks in Thailand, Sri Lanka
and Cambodia."

Promoting Mindful Mediation
http://www.cdri.org.kh/webdata/Annual%20Report/1998AR/cccr98.htm

"Buddhist concepts of conflict resolution are not new to Cambodia, but
putting the theories into practice has long been a challenge for the
Cambodian people. In an effort to address this, CCCR worked on the
publication of a four-volume conflict resolution manual in Khmer
during 1998.

The series, based on the book Mindful Mediation: A Handbook for
Buddhist Peacemakers by renowned Buddhist scholar John McConnell,
details practical ways of applying Buddhist concepts to conflict
situations and to building social peace and stability.

The Mindful Mediation project involved editing and translating the
original work into a four-volume series that would be readily
accessible to a wide Cambodian audience. Mindful Mediation was
launched at a three-day workshop on "Mindful Mediation: A Buddhist
Guide for Conflict Resolution and Peace-Building" held in February
1999."
