Three of us have been chasing the origin of George Kaye Camidge whose
marriage and death certificates have led us to believe that he was
born late 1846 or early 1847, in Blackburn Lancashire or Middlesex
London.
(Three being a second cousin in Melbourne Australia and another
relative in London)
We have tracked down a grandson, Jack Camidge, child of the second
marriage of George.
Jack rang me and has informed me that he has his mother's birthday
book which says date of birth of George Kaye Camidge is 26 January
1847.
The mystery may be opening as Jack told me his grandfather's father
was a Roman Catholic priest, thus George Kaye may have been born in a
workhouse or orphanage?
Father of George was recorded as John Camidge gentleman, deceased, on
the first marriage certificate and as John Camidge cotton broker on
the second marriage certificate.
When Jack's mother took his elder brother out in the pram, in Leeds,
she would frequently say, "Let's go into this church and say a
prayer." Any denomination for they were not RCs.
The first marriage of George Kaye Camidge to Annie Rylance was in RC
Chapel Portico Eccleston near St Helens, Lancs, England on 18 Oct
1868.
Would you be able to give me any leads as to where I might look for
the birth of George Kaye Camidge?

Dear halbird,
I don't know if this is what you would accept as an answer, so I'm
asking you first. I have managed to find the following:
- An entry from the 1901 Census for England and Wales, listing George
Camidge, his age, profession, and his place of birth, so the question
where he was born would be answered by an official document.
- The address of the office that holds all historic official marriage,
birth, and death records from George Camidge's place of birth since
1837 today, so you could continue your search there.
Would you like to get that information as an answer? If so, please let
me know.
Best regards,

Dear Scriptor
Thank you for your comments
We already have all the information available from Public records, that
is, two marriage certificates, death certificate and census records. The
findings of these are given as summary in my initial question.
What we require is his birth certificate, to know his mother and his true
father, but it has not been recorded as George Kaye Camidge in the Public
Record office nor at Blackburn where the originals for this area are held.
We are not able to access Middlesex London...this covers an enormous area.
Could he be registered under a different name, as his father was a Roman
Catholic priest...not a gentleman, nor a cotton broker.
Keep trying...please

George Kaye Camidge died 25 May 1924 in Leeds
Thomas Blackburn Camidge died Mar period 1907.
An interesting thought to 'involve' Thomas BLACKBURN Camidge. I think
I should get his birth certificate 'ref: York 23 610' that will take
me about ten days. One could illiminate his father as being that of
George Kaye or being a relative who adopted or whatever. We have
always thought it odd that one source said George Kaye was born in
Blackburn and other sources in Middlesex London
Keep trying though, please.

1881 census G.K.C was recorded as CARNIDGE residing at 179 Church
Street, Barton upon Irwell Near Eccleston, Lancs.
Do you have access to 1851 census....to look up Camidge or variants,
in Middleses London?
Best wishes...luck?
