Question ID: 186867
can i delete msn and switch to google for home page and internet
connections? I have not ever (months) been able to get into internet
pages thru microsoft. I don't claim to be a computer whiz, but I think
I should be able to log on to many sites with email and password
entries. I have not had a problem with connections thru google. just
a yes/no answer is ok, and if I can't follow your email instructions,
I can have a true genius make the change. thanks.

Hello uninformed111,

After reading your question, I understand that you want to do the
following:

A) You want to use Microsoft Internet Explorer (or other browser)
instead of MSN Explorer
B) You want to change your home page to ://www.google.com
C) You want to delete MSN.

If this is not what you were looking to do, please click on the
"Request Clarification" button and let me know in more detail what it
is you want to do. If you have any problems with this solution, I
would like to know what version of Microsoft Windows you are running
as well.

Let us start with the solution to A:
1) Click on the Start button and click on Programs and then Internet
Explorer.
2) Internet Explorer should open up. At the top, click on Tools and
then Internet Options.
3) Click on the Programs tab and check the box that says "Internet
Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser."
4) Click OK.
5) Close Internet Explorer by clicking the X at the top right.
6) Reopen Internet Explorer through Start -> Programs -> Internet
Explorer.
7) If it asks you if you want to make Internet Explorer your default
browser, click Yes.

Solution B
1) Internet Explorer should still be open. Click on Tools and then
Internet Options.
2) Where it says "Home Page" change the Address to
://www.google.com
3) Click on OK.
4) Inside Internet Explorer, click on the button that looks like a
House (for Home).
5) When you open up Internet Explorer now, you will automatically have
your home page set to Google.

Solution C (optional, you do not have to delete MSN... you could just
use Internet Explorer instead)
1) Click on Start and then Control Panel.
2) Double click on Add/Remove Programs
3) Look for MSN or MSN Explorer in the list of installed programs.
Click on it and click on Remove.

I hope this is the answer you were hoping for. If you need any
clarifications regarding this answer, please let me know and I will do
my best to further assist you.
