For tax purposes, I'm trying to estimate the 1971 market value of a
home in Egremont, Massachusetts that sold for $17,000 in 1956.

If you can't answer that and cite a reference for it, then

In order of preference:

*A table of annual real estate inflation factors for Egremont
or
*A table for western Massachusetts
or
*A table for Massachusetts
or, as a last resort,
*A table for USA.

Hello spotsworth-ga,

I have not yet been able to find information on the value of a home in
Egremont in 1971.

So far I have found the following information:

- Median Existing Single-Family Home Prices: 1968-1999 for the
Northeast United States.

-Median New Single-Family Home Prices: 1963-1999 for the Northeast
United States.

-Median Home value for Egremont in 1990.

Please let me know if this information would be an acceptable answer:

Thank you, Googlenut, but no, because I need to know what happened
between 1956 and 1971, the entire span, in order to make this
calculation work.
