Hi R2-

I also did a search for SAM-E in PubMed MEDLINE (www.pubmed.gov) using
the 'official' name for the drug - S-Adenosylmethionine - and found
quite a lot of research that has been published on it in 2002 and
2003. In particular, there are 17 articles that have
S-Adenosylmethionine as a major heading in the areas:
administration and dosage
adverse effects
antagonists and inhibitors
contraindications
drug effects
pharmacokinetics
pharmacology
therapeutic use
toxicity

Because of copyright restrictions we at GA are not able to give you
full text of articles. However, I'd be happy to give you the links
into PubMed for these 17 records - which include title and author
information at the least, and usually an abstract (sometimes even
access to full text). With the title/author information you should be
able to secure copies through your local library. Would this satisfy
your need, or, if not, how can I help further?

You won't get so many authorative studies, because there is no money
to be made! The FDA have classified it as a dietary supplement.

In August last year the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality
(AHRQ) did a search for relevant literature, and found 47 titles
focused on SAM-E and depression which were worth reviewing. However,
none of the titles were more recent than the year 2000:

I searched Med-Line and couldn't find anything that fitted your
criteria.

Hi R2,

I found a link on the discussion board of
http://www.depressionremedy.com and I was able to find the latest U.S.
government funded study for free. BTW, this was one of the first
government funded study on a supplement supporting many of the health
claims of SAM-e. The zip file has the entire study in 25 MS word
files. When you download, make sure the file name ends with ".zip".
Here is the link: http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/evrptfiles.htm#same

The Depression site also has a lot of good information about SAM-e as
well:

Good luck.
