Hi there,

I used this online device:

Time Zone Converter
http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc

It gave me the same day, 7pm.

I double-checked this by popping over to:

TimeandDate.com
http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

Which agrees, as it shows Bangkok to be 11 hours ahead of New York.

Search strategy - I browsed Google Directory:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Reference/Time/Current_Time/?tc=1

Best wishes,

The answer is correct for days when Daylight Saving Time is in effect
in New York, as it was when both the question and the answer were
posted. However, when New York is on standard time, 8:00 a.m. in New
York is 8:00 p.m. in Bangkok.

Yep, a few days ago the answer would have been different by an hour or so...

Spring forward, fall back!

Does Thailand have Daylight Saving Time?

(oh no, am I asking myself for a clarification?)

(no Rob, that's outside the parameters of the original query!)

This page says Thailand has no "known" Daylight Saving Time in 2003:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=28

However, this page says it started there April 1 this year:

http://www.thaivisa.com/index.php?514&backPID=10&tt_news=221

Most web references say Daylight Saving Time is not observed in
Thailand, but the thaivisa.com page says it is new this year.

If thaivisa.com is correct, we would have the following Bangkok times
for 8:00 a.m. in New York:

Before 1 April 2003, when New York was on DST: 7:00 p.m.
Before 1 April 2003, when New York was on standard time: 8:00 p.m.
1-5 April 2003: 9:30 p.m. (Bangkok on +1:30 DST, New York still on
standard time)
Starting 6 April 2003: 8:30 p.m.

I haven't been able to find anything about when DST ends in Thailand
this year.
