I have a Google Web Api developers key. I would like to know how to "call ahead" with it so I can Use Web Positon Gold with it without being penalized by google? When it says a thousand queries a day does that mean 100 Key Words on 10 search engines? Or something to that degree? |

Hi there, I follow anything related to Google very closely, and I have long been aware of Google's dislike of anyone using Web Positiobn Gold. Not only have I not heard of any way to use an API with Web Position Gold, it is not mentioned within the Web Master Gold website, or Google, nor within the WebMasterWorld forum, which is by far the biggest forum for this topic. There is a tool which you can use, it is called Google Alert: http://www.googlealert.com/ Google Alert limits you to one search for each keyword per day, which is should be sufficient for anyone, because checking rankings more than once a day is overkill. 1,000 queries a day is for Google only - they don't care how many searches you make on other search engines! There may be other tools which use the Google API - let me know if you want me to investigate them deeper. robertskelton-ga Google Answers Researcher |

Hello srw123, Robert has hit the mark on this one. Google offers the API service for free, and the service falls under the terms of service for anything not covered in it's own acceptable terms of use. Google Information for Webmaster "Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our terms of service...." ://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html So while the program may be using the freely available API service, using it in this manner would not be legal. There are many other tools (as robertskelton noted) that use the API. I have seen many, mostly using PHP[PEAR], XML interfacing etc...
