Hello mandarinos:
The first thing you need to understand is that Google Answers
researcher are not professional medical experts. Our advice should
NEVER replace the help of trained medical professionals. (Besides,
they will have to prescribe many of the following treatments for you.)
We are here simply to help you find information about your question.
The second thing you need to understand is that there is no "cure" for
eczema, there are only ways of treating the condition and perhaps
preventing it from flaring up. I will give you an overview of some of
the treatments (other than typical, steroid-based ointments) currently
available, as well as some tips on prevention.
Treatments
**********
* Antibiotics - for especially severe cases, antibiotics may be
prescribed to treat infections caused by the eczema.
* Antihistamines - these drugs can sometimes help control the itching
associated with eczema, but will not really decrease the extent of a
breakout.
* Phototherapy - uses *controlled* ultraviolet radiation to relieve
symptoms. However, keep in mind that prolonged exposure to normal
sunlight (tanning/burning) can make the situation worse. Some forms of
phototherapy are combined with taking the drug psoralen.
* Oral/injectable steroids - severe cases are sometimes treated with
steroids taken orally or intravenously (as opposed to topically, on
the skin). However, steroids have their own list of side effects.
* Topical Immunomodulators - a new form of non-steroid creams, these
drugs have proven very effective in early trials.

reducing suffering.
