Hello there
A deceased Muslims must be buried, as quickly as possible, without
being cremated or disposed of in any other manner. Therefore, Muslims
cannot donate their deceased bodies for medical research or any other
purpose.
The body is bathed by those of the same sex and is then shrouded with
pieces of cloth. After the performance of funeral prayers, the
deceased is buried without any coffin, but planks are placed into the
grave and the grave filled, usually with sand.
However, there are times when a coffin may be used, such as the body
is damaged, for health reasons (some countries and jurisdictions
demand it for health reasons) or when the grave is in wet soil.
This website from Oregon State University outlines the entire Islamic
funeral ritual and requirements, even how to wrap the shrouds and lay
out the dead.
