Hello.

"A lakh means hundred thousand and a crore means ten million."
sourc: bengalweb.com
http://www.bengalweb.com/calcutta/others/import.htm

"The Crore (10,000,000 Rupees) and Lakh (100,000 Rupees) are often
used as units of account."
Source: Global History of Currencies, hosted by Globalfindata.com
http://www.globalfindata.com/frameset.php3?location=/gh/133.html

Thus...

Rupees 1 crore = 10,000,000 Rupees = US $210,792.59
source: Yahoo Finance Currency Converter
http://finance.yahoo.com/m5?a=10000000&s=INR&t=USD&c=0

Rupees 1 lakh = 100,000 Rupees = US $2,107.93
source: Yahoo Finance Currency Converter
http://finance.yahoo.com/m5?a=100000&s=INR&t=USD&c=0

search strategy: "Crore means", rupees

I hope this helps.
