What music are the songs, specifically the La Resistance Medley
based off of? I am curious if they were adaptations of a real
musical, or did they come up with all of that stuff. It was
very impressive, though much of the language would not be
accepted by most. I am looking for a discussion of exactly
which artists either composed the original music or who put
it together. Thanks.

Hello.

The music in "South Park, Bigger Longer and Uncut" was original music
composed by Marc Shaiman.

The lyrics were written by Trey Parker and Marc Shaiman. The songs
weren't taken from any other musical.

Specifically, "La Resistance" was written by Marc Shaiman and Randolph
S ("Trey") Parker.

From the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers
(ASCAP):

"LA RESISTANCE (Title Code: 420551586)
Writers:
PARKER RANDOLPH S
SHAIMAN MARC

Variations:
  LA RESISTANCE REPRISE"

Here is Marc Shaiman's description of his work on "South Park":

"My job covered both the score and additional music & lyrics for the
songs...and the score makes use of themes/melodies/chord progressions
from the songs....so, as hard as it is to sum up for the credits of
the film, I was an active collaborator with Trey Parker on all aspects
of the musical (and lyrical) landscape of the movie...."

Here are the complete credits for the soundtrack:

"Music Composed by Marc Shaiman, Lyrics by Trey Parker, Additional
Lyrics by Marc Shaiman, Orchestrations by Jeff Atmajian, Pete Anthony,
Frank Bennett, Larry Blank, Harvey Cohen, Partick Russ, Conducted by
Pete Anthony, Recorded and Mixed by Dennis Sands."

Mr Shaiman is a very prolific composer who has created scores for
numerous movies and television shows. Read his list of credits at:

The fact that the "South Park" songs sound so much like they're from a
Broadway musical probably has something to do with the fact that Marc
Shaiman also writes those. One of his recent musicals was a show
called, "Hairspray." Apparently the songs in that show were somewhat
similar to his songs in "South Park." More information at

search strategy: "south park", uncut, soundtrack, composer, composed

I hope this helps.
