I am in my final year of a BScience(Computer Science)/BArts degree and
I have become interested in the fields of human-computer interaction
and user interface design (another buzz-phrase I have heard is 'user
centered design').

I would like to get some work experience in this area with either a
company whos primary business is human-computer interaction (for
example The Hiser Group www.hiser.com.au), or any other company which
may have a department or section where I could get some experience in
user interface design.

I am looking for names and some way of contacting companies in either
Canberra (ACT, Australia) or Sydney (NSW, Australia) which might be
what I am looking for.

There is an orginsation called CHISIG, you should be able to do a
google search for them.  They have a newsletter that you maybe able to
tap into.

Other than that I know of 2 researchers at Information Systems at
Melbourne Uni, who specialise in HCI, they are STeve Howard and Steve
Goshnick.  Look up www.dis.unimelb.edu.au and email them, they maybe
able to help.
