Hi! Thanks for the question.

The Business Entry Point website of the Australian Government is a
specific answer to your needs. It provides the different types of
grants you could avail from the government if you are a small business
owner.

There are 2 types of programs, those given by the Commonwealth
Government and the other by State and Territory Governments.

Commonwealth State and Territory Governments Programs for starting and
expanding a business could be found here/

New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) (Commonwealth)

HI,
Are you aware of any other asistance for start ups/ new companies?
Most of the links requrie a big track record, and the NEIS requires me
to be unemployed... typical government red tape!

Hi again zulu500-ga!

i tried my very best to find you other grants and I came up with the
following. Remember to not only check my suggestions but also the
other grants listed since they may also be appropriate for you.

I found this Regional Funding and Grant Website which searches for
other Grants.

Commercialising Emerging Technologies
"Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) is a competitive, merit
based grants program delivered by private sector Consultant Business
Advisers which supports businesses and individuals to increase the
commercialisation of innovative products, processes and services."

The Small Business Enterprise Culture Programme's objective is to
foster the growth of small businesses by improving the capacity of
small business owner/managers to access skills development and
mentoring services which meet their needs.

The following regional funding entities do not operate formal grants
programs but actually award funding on a case by case basis.

Clare & Gilbert Valleys Council Funding
The Karoonda East Murray Council Funding
The Flinders Ranges Council Funding
The Franklin Harbour District Council Funding
The District Council of Kimba FUnding
The Kingston District Council Funding

If you qualify, I highly recommend the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme.
