Where would I find data on percentage of US hospital beds filled by
certain conditions (i.e., cancer, ICU, cardiac care, HIV, etc.? I

the markets are for assisted living, nursing homes, oncology.

Hello Lorcom,

You have asked two very different types of questions, one about
hospital/disease statistics, and the other about market data in the
health care industry.

In my experience, often a researcher may be able to tackle one
question, but not the other, and winds up just skipping the question
all together. If you don't get an answer to your question after a
while, you may want to consider splitting them up into separate
questions.

Hello Lorcom-ga:

I have been doing research for your question. I was able to find the
answer to your first question but I am not exactly sure what kind of
data would you like about the long-term care facilities? (Is it how
big the markets are for....)

Also, the data I found for your first question states data for 20
major types (approximately 60 types)for inpatient discharge. Meaning
that the data shows that the number of patients admitted by the type
of disease before being discharged. It is a very comprehensive data.
Although it doesn't state AIDS, CANCER but instead states infectious
and parasitic disease. Some other are heart diseases, fractures,
deliveries, mental disorders, respiratory diseases, mental disorder
and much more.

The report is the official national hospital discharge survey and was
published in 2001 (nice PDF format). It also states the six major
types admitted. After some work one can easily break different types
into percentages. IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?
