I am searching for the music (in a CD or cassette) that is played by
CBS during the Masters Golf Tournament. The Masters' website
(www.masters.org) describes the music (on question #16 of FAQ) as:
"Dave Loggins wrote the original score for CBSs coverage of the
Masters in 1981. It was re-released by Leeds Music/Patchwork Music
ASCAP in 1996 by Don Cherry." I have searched most music websites I
know and cannot find the CD. It's an Easter gift so a prompt reply
(of where I can specifically purchase the music) will be appreciated. |

I appreciate the comments on my search. I found a "Don Cherry
Collection" CD that has the song Augusta as the last song. Now my
question is whether that song is the instrumental version. The
instrumental version is what I'm searching for.

I suspect that the version on "The Don Cherry Collection" is likely to
be the one with lyrics, as on the Willie Nelson/Don Cherry CD that I
mentioned in an earlier comment. Don Cherry has had modest success as
a singer, and I doubt that he would include an instrumental-only track
on one of his albums.
Have you considered trying to contact Philip Rhodes, the owner of
Squeaky's Tip Top, as mentioned in a link provided by my colleague
googlenut?

Thank you for the suggestion to contact the owner of the tavern. I did
not think that the jukebox version is instrumental because he mentions
the "images in the lyrics" hitting home with him so I assumed that it
was not the instrumental version. I appreciate your help!

Notice this quote from the article about Squeaky's:
"At Squeaky's, you can hear the song any time you want, for a quarter.
It's No. 112 for the vocal version and No. 212 if you're in the mood
for the instrumental side."

I apologize for not thoroughly reading the article and thanks for the
tip. I contacted the tavern and the record belongs to the jukebox
owner. I am now trying to contact a radio station in Augusta that had
copies of the song for sale at one time. It seems that the
instrumental version of the song by Dave Loggins is difficult, if not
impossible, to find. I appreciate all your help!
