One of the features of Notes is that senders can make messages private
and thus prevent receiver from printing and forwarding. Is there any
way around this so that if I receive one of these messages I can print
it? I am a Notes user and therefore receive the messages through
Notes.

Hi mark800:

While it might not be the most elegant of solutions, you could always
take a screen-capture and then you'd have the message as part of a
larger picture.

On most Windows machines, this is accomplished by holding down the
function key (the one with the MS 4-square) and hitting the "Print
SCRN" button (typically found above the Insert key). Then you can open
a Word document and copy the image into it. Voila! A copy of what was
on your screen.

Hope this helps.

I worked for a Big 5 firm, and remember once that the secretary for
our department sent out a 'private' email letting people know what she
would and wouldn't do.

I'm a pretty savvy PC person, and we couldn't get it printed to save
our lives. We tried the screen capture, and somehow Notes had
prevented even that from occurring. We even loaded screen capture
programs, thinking we needed something fancier, to no avail.

Please, if you do find a way to print it, let us know!

Thanks!

Here's an archaic thought:

Take a picture of the screen with a digital camera. For extreme
close-ups, I've found that you should turn off the auto-focus.

Oooooh, just had another thought. See if you can get someone to
'tandem' to your computer, or if you're using XP, try Remote
Assistance. That person can then view your screen. Maybe THEY can
print it?

Good luck!

Im running Lotus Notes 5.0.11, and sent a message, marking it as
'Private' in the delivery options screen. Received the message on
another 5.0.11 client machine. I was able to grab a screen shot of the
message by using PrintKey (Version 5.10FULL), i clicked on the icon in
the system tray rather than using the print screen key.

If you have another print screen utility, you might want to tell it to
trap another key rather than prntscrn as Lotus Notes may be supressing
that keystroke.
