I bought and ran a franchise that did not live up to the potential
that I was sold. What kind of legal recourse do I have, if any?
Where would I find professional assistance in trying to recover some
of my financial loss?

What country/state/locality are you in / was your franchise in? What
country/state is the headquarters of the company you were dealing
with?

I should emphasize the disclaimer at the bottom of the page, which

The parent franchising corporation is based in Orange County,
California. I operated my franchise in Dallas County and Rockwall
County Texas. I was also incorporated in Texas as a Limited Liability
Company. Hope this helps. Note, I am still operating at this time
but do not expect any further support from the franchising company.
Thanks.

Dear BBI,

Could you please pull out your franchise contract?

There is a clause that talks about the jurisdiction
for lawsuits -

i.e. any disputes will be adjudicated under the laws
of XXX state. Or This must go to arbitration, with the
contact information of the arbitration agency.

Also, where was the contract sold to you? In Texas
or California. If they came out to you and set you up
in Texas, I'd say you'd have a good shot at filing a
claim in Texas.

The main reason you'd want to sue in California, though,
is because that's where their assets are. When you win,
you want to be able to collect more quickly.

Incidentally, how much money did you pay for the franchise?

That will determine the court.

Best wishes
