Hello cougar43

What sort of answer do you want: someone to provide you with
information and links which you can use to write your essay, or
someone to write the essay for you?

Hello tehuti-ga

I was planning to write it myself, but if someone is willing to write
the essay for me that is fine too. So to answer your question, either
the links or the finished essay is fine!

Hi! Thanks for the question.

The following articles would be of great help to your essay:

1. What is a calorimeter?

"In particle physics, any device that can measure the energy deposited
in it by particles (originally a device that measured heat energy
deposited, thus a calorie-meter)."

2. Who invented the calorimeter?

Answer: Antoine Lavoisier

"The late 1700’s ushered in the “Chemical-Analytical Era” (1750-1900)
highlighted by Lavoisier’s calorimetry studies1. He discovered how
food is metabolized by oxidation to carbon dioxide, water and heat. He
also invented the calorimeter, crucial to further understanding of
heat energy."

3. "How does a calorimeter work?"

Dear easterangel,

I wanted to know how a bomb calorimeter works.

Hi again and thanks for asking a clarification before making a rating.

"In 1881, Berthelot devised a closed container he called a bomb, based
on the fact that many substances, including hydrocarbons, will react
easily with oxygen."

"The bomb calorimeter used today works by burning a hydrocarbon in
high pressure oxygen in a stainless steel container, maintaining a
constant volume. The stainless steel container is surrounded by water
and the heat evolved by the reaction is absorbed by the surrounding
water. By measuring the temperature change of the water, qv can be
determined."

Here is an animation for a bomb calorimeter. You will neeed javascript
to play it.

Thanks again!
