I am currently an exchange student at University of Wisconsin
Marinette. It is my intention to proceed with my studies here in the
U.S. For this purpose, I would like to take a student loan. However,
all institutions (e.g. IEFC) I have found that offer such loans to
undergraduate students without
U.S. citizenship or Permant Residence Card require a U.S. person as
co-signee. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anyone willing
to guarantee for me so far. Therefore, I need your help. Please find
any organisation or person that lends money to international
undergraduate students without the obligation of a co-signature. I am
not looking for information on scholarships.

I hope the following information about myself will help you with your
search.

- 19 years of age
- Swiss citizen
- Temporary residence in U.S. based on F1 visa
- non-religious
- not affiliated with any particular organisations
- First-year college student
- Intended Major: Accounting
- Intended Degree: BS in Accounting
- Targeted universities: Northern Illinois University, San Francisco
State University (have not been accepted to either of them yet)
- no collateral available

The loan should be at a reasonable interest rate, that is, no more
than 10 - 12% APR. The least amount I would like to obtain is USD
4000. I am aware that it is not very likely that anyone would be
willing to lend money to me on the terms mentioned. Nevertheless, I
want to give it a try, because your team seems to be very competent.

You might want to check out the MOHELA CashLoans program
(www.mohela.com) and the Sallie Mae Signature Student Loan program
(www.salliemae.com). Both are loan programs that are student loans,
but are not regulated by the government in the same manner as the
federal student loan programs. They are considered "alternative" or
"supplemental" student loans. I don't know their policies regarding
international students, but it might be worth a look/phone call.
Another idea might be to just go to your bank and see if there is
anythign they can offer.
Good Luck

Have you tried to approach any banks in Switzerland? If your permanent
address is in Switzerland, you might find it easier to arrange a loan
there.
