Gotta start by saying i've been getting great stuff back from people.
Thanks. These are really useful.

I'm wanting a web site review,(not to find where I can get a
reviewer). I need a google researcher to perform a useability test on
www.accudex.com, Specifically, we're not wanting html
suggestions etc, we're wanting "how did it work for you as a
potential purchaser of our products". I'm looking to get your
experience and feedback, as well as your opinions and suggestions.
Please can you give any thought processes you have while you do the
test. i.e. "wow this is confusing on page www.xxxxxxx.com/xxxxx
(paste link and specify what).
This was useful on page wwww.xxxx.com/xxxx (paste link and specify
what). CLARIFICATION - I'm not after books, or services or links as
to how to design a website or who can do this. I'm specifically
wanting the assistance of a google answerwer to give me their user
experience and their suggestions. Please try to buy a product. Go
through to order page and put Google Researcher in the Credit card
field. What worked and didn't work in your buying experience.?
Thanks!

Thanks for requesting us again for a usability report, this time on
accudex.com.

First page:

Since I have never been to accudex.com, I was a little confused as to
what the breadth of your site was, At the top where most sites have a
logo and a short blurb as to what the site sells, all I saw was a
blinking ad.

Although we all get bombarded by ads all day long on the internet,
this one (I must confess previous knowledge) is an ad for a different
vertical market. If you want it to stay, I would move it down some, or
perhaps make it square and smaller, and move it from the top. I
thought that I was at headsets.com.

While I found the site description “Zip codes and area codes -
products and solutions”, I really did have to look. It really should
stand out more. Perhaps moving the blinking banner ad would help. Do
you have some kind of logo?

The first product I clicked on was the area code chart.
http://www.accudex.com/html/codetracker.html I liked the page, and it
was useful to have the close up graphics, to see in detail what the
product was like.

I clicked on “order now”, and was a little dismayed that I had to
look again for the product, as I had already chosen from the previous
page. I assume that is because you do not have your own secure server
or merchant account.

No big deal, but since you are paying for a review, I think I should
tell you all my thoughts.

Overall the order page was fine, I liked (who doesn’t) the shipping
waived, and appreciated the general tone of the page, the “thank you”
graphic, and the honesty of the “where did you hear about us”. I think
having the most often quoted reasons reformatted into a checkbox
style, so that the customer could quickly check the source used, then
add a field for “other”.

I understand that the pre-checked box for auto-updates will generate
more sales, but the customer might feel tricked. You should change the
box to unchecked. Opt-in is far better than opt-out when it comes to
credit card sales.

I finished the transaction with a fake credit card # , no type card
selected, and no email address. The server did not catch these errors.
How will you contact the customer to save the sale? Also, while it
seems some of the data is error checked, the error message does not
specify what is missing/wrong.

The zip code directory page was fine:
http://www.accudex.com/html/electronic.html

The book version http://www.accudex.com/html/zipcodedirectory.html
was good too I liked the mouse over detail on the photos.
I had no problems with the wall map page either.
http://www.accudex.com/html/worldmap.html

One final note: Can you ship faster than 5 business days, I do a lot
of internet shopping, and I hate to wait. How about 48 hours. I think
most studies show that internet shoppers want it yesterday.

I hope this helps,
