I think the simplest way to address this question is to tell you that
there is no way to prevent mass destruction by simple means of a
radiation suit.

Radiation suits are not made available to the general public. I could
be wrong, but I do not see any information whatsoever, beyond MOPP
(Mission Oriented Protective Posture) suits.

You can find links to purchasing Geiger Counters on the following
site, with detailed information on what to look for:
http://www.radmeters4u.com/
which is in turn linked off of the following informative general page
about doomsday:
http://www.ki4u.com/survive/doomsday.htm

Specifically you can purchase the government Civil Defense Radiation
Survey meter here:

Do you want information on purchasing this equipment, or do you want
to know the biggest 'brand-names' in radiation protection in general?

UniTech Services Group (formerly INS Corp.), a wholly owned subsidiary
of UniFirst, claims to be "the leading supplier of high tech laundry
and protective clothing programs to the nuclear industry"
http://www.u1st.com/setcatalog.htm

Eastern Technologies, Inc., (based in Alabama) claims to supply "the
most advanced radiological laundry services and protective clothing
programs available to the nuclear industry..."

According to a special report to the Christian Science Monitor, (dated
November 4th, 1999), it states "one of the biggest domestic producers
of personal Geiger counters is SNIIP, a Moscow military factory that
still makes equipment for the Russian nuclear weapons program." The
factory makes and markets the gizmos to earn cash - because its
military customers are far behind in paying their bills.

You may also find this page benefial as it contains a list of useful
links on radiation protection:

hope this helps
