I am a student in search of some information on a specific type of jet
engine - the GE CF34.
http://www.geae.com/services/technicalpublications/manuals.html

There was an exhibition that displayed the cutaway of this engine. Is
there any way I might be able to attain such a cutaway?

Hello:

If you can clarify further. What exactly do you mean by a 'cutaway'.
It will help the researchers come out with a more relevant answer.

Thanks.

Purduepilot --

Are you trying to find a picture of the cutaway engine? There are
some cross-sections of GE engines available online, though not of the
CF34.

If you're trying to gain access to the ACTUAL cutaway, please let us
know. The GE Aircraft Engine division in Cincinnati would be the
point of contact.

GE's website fails to provide a cutaway of the CF34. I'm looking for
a side profile of the engine providing a clear view of the interior
components such as the compressor, combustion chamber, turbine... the
image wouldn't necessarily be a true photograph of the engine, but it
would need to provide a clear depiction of the flow-path, intake to
exhaust.

Purduepilot –

In order to find excellent cutaways and component views of the CF34,
you’ll need to look for its military model number – the TF34, which is
used in the A10 Warthog. There are at least two excellent component
and cutaway views of the engine on the site of an A-10 enthusiast’s
page (be aware that there is music loaded on the page):
Stravonski’s A-10 Page
"Engines of the A-10"
http://members.aol.com/Stravonski/private/engines.html

GE and some other pages have cutaways of other models of GE engines.
For example you can find a cross-section of the GE90 engine:
Stanford University Aircraft and Aerodynamics Design Group
"Large Turbofan Engines" (undated)
http://adg.stanford.edu/aa241/propulsion/largefan.html

And another cutaway of a GP7000 is on the GE Aircraft Engine division
page:
GE Aircraft Engine Division
"GEAE History" (2002)
http://www.geae.com/aboutgeae/history.html

And from the Paris Air Show, you can find a picture of the engine
without cowling:
http://defence-data.com/paris99/cf34.gif

Should more detailed images of the engine be needed, there’s also the
option of contacting the Aircraft Engine division for more details.
The process is described in the GE FAQ:
GE
"FAQ’s"
http://www.geae.com/faqs.html

Google search strategy:
GE + "CF34"
model + "aircraft engine" + CF34
model + "aircraft engine" + TF34

I was working on this problem but lost the lock when a server problem
with my ISP suddenly occured. Connection resumed a few minutes as of
this writing but it was too late for me. Anyway, as an additional
resource for the great answer you have received, you can search this
link for more pictures:
