Please identify the following piece of music:
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/chungwangpong/vwp2?.tok=bcLDWaRBGMJKz6do&.dir=/&.dnm=ahhhh.rar&.src=bc

password=googleplex

Clues:
All I can tell you is that this piece came from a tape borrowed from a
public library sometime in the 80's. The piece was made by overlaying
one ladys voice
many times to get the final harmonies.
I would like to know Artist? Title? Album? Year? Catalog number? Can I
buy it?

Good luck!

Hi there Mindwarp,

I just happen to know that the piece of music you have provided is
?Awaken, Larkrise? (sometimes listed as ?Awaken?Larkrise? or ?Sping,
Awaken Larkrise?) performed by Claire Hamill. It is track 1 on the
album ?Voices? from 1986.

The label is Blueprint and the catalogue number is BP308CD ? you can
definitely buy it online. One site that sells it is CDUniverse (

)

Voiceprint.co.uk says the following:
?Claire Hamill is a singer/songwriter, who began her recording career
in the early 70's and was described by Sounds once as "Britain's
answer to Joni Mitchell". The concept album Voices, was originally
released on Coda Records (a subsidiary of Beggars Banquet) and Nick
Austin her husband at the time, suggested the idea, after returning
from America and being excited by an emerging new music genre called
"New Age". This was Claire's first instrumental album; the first track
"Spring, Awaken Larkrise" used layered voices to great effect. It
received rave reviews, with Sounds calling it "orgasmic". The album
was recorded in six weeks with engineer Richard York, who made great
use of one of the earliest samplers on the market the Prophet 2000
record some of the vocals. The music from the album was used in a BBC
documentary about the Doomsday Book, with "Points Of View" besieged by
viewers enquiring about this incredible recording.?

There is some more interesting trivia about ?Voices? at RateYourMusic
( http://rateyourmusic.com/view_album_details/album_id_is_46187 ) and
a interview with the artist, in RealAudio format, here:

Try a Google search for ?Claire Hamill? (

information.

I hope this pleases you ? I know it drives me nuts when I can?t
identify a tune.
