Hello -

This answer is not finished until you're satisfied with it. If you
need any additional information/clarification, please ask BEFORE
rating this answer. Thanks for your understanding.

1) canadianart.com

Best. To the point. Nice sound. A little generic sounding, but the
best of the bunch.

2) canadian-art.com

Almost as good, but the hyphen requires "a little more effort" to
memorize. I.e., ebay is better than e-bay. "Someone told me the
website was canadianart.com! Why isn't it working?" You want the
least effort for remember the name and spelling.

3) canadaart.com

Awkward with "a"'s back to back.

4) canada-art.com

Again, same thing with the hyphen. Hyphens tend to cheapen things.
get-the-best
-deals-on-the-net.com is not nearly as elegant as dealnet.com.

5) canadianarts.com and canadaarts.com

When I hear "art," I think visual arts -- paintings, etc. "Arts" is
more encompassing of different kinds of "arts" ... arts and crafts,
music, etc.

5) art.ca and arts.ca

Forget it. .com and .net IS the net really. Anything other than .com
typically limits your exposure and has a much more localized feel.

Thanks,

2 should read: "for remembering the name and spelling"

5 should read: Anything other than .com and .net typically limits your
exposure. .COM is the vast majority of domains, and is very much
intertwined with the culture and feel of the net.

Thank you for answer and for comment. But why do you say it's not good
if it sounds generic.Isn't it the best possible feature. And what is
your opinion as US citizen (I guess) about info and biz extensions. For
example, from my european view, photography.com is as valuable as
photography.info.

Hi -

No, the name is nice... It's fine for conveying the essence of what
your site is, and that's "canadian art."

My opinion of the .biz, .info and all other extensions is that they're
all inferior to .com. They didn't ever really catch on nearly to the
extent of .com. The vast majority of the millions of domains out
there are .com. ".com" is the universal extension known by anyone who
is remotely familiar with the Internet. People will often just add
.com to a name, figuring it belongs there. If you really want, you
can register a bunch of domains. For instance, you could register
canadianart.com, canadianart.net, canadianart.info, etc. and have
them all point to the same site. That way you're covered all the way
around. You may also want to register the alternative names such as
canadian-art, canadaart.com, canada-art, etc. and have them all point
to your site. That way you'll catch everyone if people attempt to go
to those sites.

Hope this helps!

Howdy nikenn!

Here you go; best to worst, at least what I would go
with this list.

canadianart.com
canadian-art.com
canada-art.com
art.ca
arts.ca
canadaart.com
canadianarts.com
canadaarts.com

The .com top level domain (TLD) is preferable to a .ca
extension for marketing on world basis. The double "a"
sequence in "canadaart.com" is tough to read and people
would tend to type "canadart.com" instead.

As much as I don't like hyphens in domain names, they
are sometimes needed to clarify the spelling, like with
the double "a" above.

When the word "arts" is used, as in "canadianarts.com"
the concept of "the arts" comes up, which includes plays,
and within a context of more discussing and describing
the arts, instead of the sale of artwork. So "art"
would be preferred to "arts" for your case.

Looking Forward, denco-ga

Just FYI,
at least half of your suggestions are already registered or taken by
others! That'll help, if this isn't just a mental exercise.
And I like jbf777-ga's answer a lot.
