Hi there! To get your software reviewed, there are several places to contact: Ziff Davis Media Group, publishers of PC Magazine and Yahoo Internet Life Magazine, offer "eTesting Labs" for testing and reviews of products: eTesting Labs [ http://etestinglabs.com/ ] You can contact PC Magazine's staff for reviews here (you'll want "First Looks" and "Software"): [ http://www.pcmag.com/article/0,2997,s=400&a=5735,00.asp ] Yahoo Internet Life does not review software, but does review sites. They have the following instructions for getting your site reviewed: "If you want us to consider reviewing your Web site in Yahoo! Internet Life, send mail to cree_mccree@ziffdavis.com. To have your site considered, please be sure to include: * The URL of the site (yes, people do forget to tell us this!). * Who you are and what you're doing with your site. * Who it serves and what makes it useful, delightful, or charming." Yahoo Internet Life Contacts [ http://www.yil.com/contact.asp ] PC World Magazine, published by IDG.net (http://www.idg.net), offers detailed instructions on how to submit your product for review here: How to Submit a Product for Review [ http://www.pcworld.com/resource/product_submissions.asp ] (This one is a little picky, make sure you read carefully!) For other reviews, try C-Net Technologies, maintainers of the wildly popular ZDnet.com and Downloads.com. They explain how to get your software reviewed here: Reviews Central: How to Get Reviewed [ http://www.cnet.com/aboutcnet/0-6983522-7-6984909.html ] Good luck! missy-ga |

Good answer but didn't go much beyond to explore other areas. |

Missy's answer is great as usual. I just wanted to add something addressing the second part of your question. About six months ago I read *Guerrilla P.R. Wired* by Michael Levine. It is an excellent book on getting on-line business exposure, inexpensively. It is written in handbook style so you will actually be able to do the techniques as you read the book. |

Another thing that just came to mind, that you might want to consider, is possibly contacting a local user group. I am affiliated with several of them in Southern California, and we always welcome contact from Software and Hardware manufacturers. Because most Users Groups are classified by the I.R.S. as 501-C3 (Non-Profit Organizations) products can be donated, then they can be written off as a donation. Normally when we receive requests for reviews from companies, in the case of software, we generally request two copies. One copy goes to the person who takes the time to write the review of the product, and the other copy is usually used as either a raffle prize, or some other form of fund raising for the organization. . . There are Users Groups in every part of the United States, and worldwide. One of the best resources to find user groups is by contacting the Association Of Personal Computer User Groups. The can be found online at http://www.apcug.org/ I hope this helps. . . Michael Moore |
