During the next few months, Maricopa County may issue air pollution
advisories to help avoid unacceptable levels of air pollution. During
these advisories, fireplaces and wood-burning stoves may not be used.
Maricopa County has the authority to issue fines for violations. To
make sure it is safe to burn, call the County Air Advisory Hotline at

on the Internet.

In addition, like many Valley cities, Phoenix prohibits new
construction of wood-burning stoves and fireplaces. Only natural gas
or other clean-burning appliances are allowed. These devices are
acceptable for use on no-burn days.
