I will be traveling from Los Angeles to Sydney departing on May 15th
and returning to LA on May 30th. I would like to fly to Qantas or Air
New Zealand if possible. I've been to both of their websites to price
out flights (they run $950-$1100 US) and although that's not bad, I'm
wondering if there's any way to save off of that. I've never booked
internationally before so that's why I'm wondering. If anyone has any
suggestions, please let me know. |

Hi jpbischke,
I've been researching this for over an hour and the best flight I
could come up with is $882.00 + tax.
You would fly from LAX-SFO-SYD. The departure date is May 15th but you
would arrive in Sydney on the 17th (because of the time difference).
The return is SYD-LAX on the 30th, arriving in LA on the 30th. But it
would not be with either Quantas or Air New Zealand. Would you be
interested in this flight?
Let me know what you decide. Thanks.

Hi jpbischke,
After posting my clarification, I clicked "book now" for the flight
(out of curiosity). It then showed the total price for the flight. The
tax is $104.50, services $20.00 and processing & handling (normal
delivery) $18.00. The total is $1024.50. I guess you wouldn't be
interested in it anymore.
I'll keep looking for others and let you know if I find anything.

Thanks for the effort. It's quite possible that Qantas and AirNZ's
websites might simply be the cheapest. I wanted to check to see if
there was any other options though because I know sometimes they have
consolidators that do international flights that end up being pretty
cheap. I've never travelled to AU and that's why I wanted to post
this here in case someone might be a little more travel-savvy when it
comes to going down under.

jpbischke,
I found a flight NOT on the two you mentioned for $984.50
**including** taxes and fees. Would that information be any help to
you?

Unfortunately it probably won't. I've already got a direct flight
option from LAX to SYD for around the same price and so unless it was
at least a hundred bucks cheaper I wouldn't see any reason to go with
something else.
