I'm a 20-something about to start an architecture program and I would like to begin thinking on the right side of my brain with some summer art classes (drawing, painting, etc.). I could go anywhere in the country, though I'd prefer some place with comfortable weather and a low cost of living (since I'll have only a part-time job if any). Also I'm looking for a program with at least some people my age -- not all teens and not all seniors. Any ideas? | |

Hello viseu, I have found a variety of summer art programs for adults. You can look through them and see if any of them are what you are looking for. They are all over the country. I have even included a couple in Canada. Brentwood Art Center in Los Angeles, California http://www.brentwoodart.com/travel.htm Chicago isnt particularly a cheap place to live, but you are more likely to be able to find part time work. It does offer scholarships. The School of the Art Institute of Chicago http://www.artic.edu/saic/programs/continuing/summer/index.html Worcester Art Museum; Worcester, Massachusetts. http://www.worcesterart.org/Education/ Southwest School of Arts & Crafts in San Antonio, Texas. http://www.swschool.org/adults/adult_main.htm#INTRODUCTION San Diego Museum of Art in San Diego, California http://www.sdmart.com/education-camp.html Northland College on Lake Superior http://www.northland.edu/outreach/art.html The Cleveland Institute of Art. http://www.cia.edu/academic/continuing/summerprecollege.asp Artspace in Raleigh, North Carolina has adult art programs. http://www.artspacenc.org/5.2.html The Snow Farm in New England http://www.snowfarm.org/artindepth.html I know you said U.S., but I found this nice program in Ontario. It is for adults and youth, although, you may have trouble getting a part time job in Canada. Thanks, this is helpful. A couple of those programs were for kids, but I found three promising options. |
