Hi there, Beagleair.

Is this the UK 3 litre Capri engine?

Hello again.

I have had a look around the web for some information and have found a
few pages but I'd prefer it if I can call some people on Monday or
Tuesday to get some advice.
Luckily, I have fair bit of experience with Capri's, owning one myself
previously and I regularly read Classic Ford magazine.
It looks likely that you will need a different gearbox or adaptor,
depending on which gearbox is currently fitted but the Essex V6 was
fitted to the Transit until 1982.

errol-ga.

Hello again, Beagleair!

Fantastic news, the engine will drop virtually straight in as long as
you still have the original 2 litre V4 Transit gearbox.

There are a couple of parts that you will need though.
You will need to find the manifolds and bolts from a 3 litre Ford
Zephyr to connect up to the downpipes on the Transit.
These shouldn't be very difficult to find, Exchange & Mart and the
free-ad type newspapers usually have classic parts in them.

As well as that, the people I spoke to recommended using a Transit
Diesel bonnet and front end to accommodate the longer engine.

The rest, such as the cooling system should come from the Capri
engine.

I have listed a few suppliers of obsolete parts below to locate the
items that you need. Just to confirm, the parts you will need are:

70's Ford Zephyr 3 litre manifolds and bolts.
2 litre Transit V4 gearbox.
Transit Diesel bonnet and other front end parts which give more room.

Of course, all of the above are assuming that you live in the UK.
If you need US suppliers, don't hesitate to request a clarification so
I can locate companies in that country.

This is the first totally "offline" question I have answered, spending
most of it buried in a big pile of Classic Ford magazines and Haynes
manuals so there isn't much in the way of related Google searches that
I can provide.
I've included a couple at the bottom though that you may want to look
through for more information.

Regards,
errol-ga.
