Hi there capton! Do you wish to do the conversion on your Pocket PC,
or would you also consider doing it on a desktop computer?

I would love to be able to do the conversion on my desktop and then

Hello. Capton. This took me a while to figure out although the answer
was really quite simple. The software that you want is a free download
from Microsoft called Windows Media Encoder. You can find it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx

If you don't have the hardware yet to drag and drop to a flash card I
recommend the SanDisk ImageMate USB Dual Reader CF/SM Model SDDR-75
which cost $19 here:

Happy converting!

Try using the Windows Media Encoder, It's free, and there is even an
option within to encode specifically for PocketPC devices. This is
what I use. There are a few limitations, but generally works well.

Hi capton,

The Windows Media Encoder that grantk mentioned does what you need.
It can convert AVI and other formats to WMV. You can download the
latest version from the following page:

Windows Media Encoder 9 Series
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/encoder/default.aspx

Another free utility that converts between AVI and WMV is the STOIK
Video Converter. You can download it from the following page:

STOIK Video Converter

Open the avi file with Windows Movie Maker, then wait for all the
frames to be made, then you can save your movie into the wmv format.
Its really pretty easy.
