Hi There!

I am a financial advisor, and have a wealthy client who wants to know
what the Euro is going to do versus the dollar. Unfortunately, I
specialize in U.S. markets; Europe is not my area of expertise.

In fact, my only expertise comes from National Lampoon's "European
Vacation." :-)

I need 3 links with Euro forecasts by 6 AM (PST) on April 22. That's
8 hours from now. A 5-star answer would be very practical, very
down-to-Earth. In other words, "Mr. Jones, here's what is going to
happen to the Euro, and here's why. Now aren't you glad I keep up
with Europe for you?"

All comments greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
ron

As megagaga-ga mentions, even if it is educated guesswork, it's just
guesswork. Financial forecasters are like newspaper horse tipsters -
if they really knew, then they would quit telling others and quietly
make a fortune. Imagine if there was another 9/11 - what would happen
to the $US then. In fact, you could probably get great odds on nothing
unpredictable occuring in the next 6 months.

Best wishes,

Hi,

I won't attempt an answer, because not only is it over my head, I get
confused about whether the numbers mean the Euro will get stronger or
weaker!

The fact is that nobody knows. Boy, if someone did, wouldn't he make a
fortune?

Some years ago, I wanted to buy forward to hedge a major deal, so I
consulted the experts.

They told me not to worry and two days later there was 'a devaluation'
that left me seriously disadvantaged.

My gut feel is that's there's not much to choose between the two
currencies at present, so why not recommend that your client should
try to spread his risks by having a foot in both camps?

Then, whatever happens, he comes out smiling.

BUT, if you plump for one and it goes sour, he may never forgive you.

It's a gamble either way, so you tell your client that, sorry, nobody
has a crystal ball that's infallible.

Megagaga,

Yours is either the voice of wisdom or a Japanese monster from the
1960's...
:-)

Thank you for the terrific advice. I take it seriously, and
appreciate your taking the time to offer it. ron

Hi, Ron

Thanks for your comment.

As a further thought, the best advice to give is 'to limit his exposure'.

Tell him to try and match his debts and his creditors, by currency.

Possibly, by rearranging his borrowings accordingly.
