What's a good 7:00pm wedding shower gift

Clarification of Question by jlkut-ga on 22 Apr 2003 07:36 PDT
I have a wedding shower on April 26. It's an around the clock shower
and I don't know that gift I should get for a 21 yr.old. My time is
7:00 pm. It would be helpful if you could find something under
$50.00.
Thanks

Hi jlkut-ga,

You're lucky because 7:00 is a very flexible theme.
Depending on the day of week or their mood, young
people do lots of different things in the early evening.

I have several suggestions for you:

    1) if there is a registry, you can get part
       of their table service.
    2) 21 year old people love movies on DVDs. Head
over to your local shop, like Best Buy, and
       pick a few out.
    3) wine always makes a nice gift. You could buy
them a nice bottle that they could celebrate with.
Alternatively, you could go to Trader Joes (if it
is in your area) and buy them a case of "2 buck
chuck." It's a very nice wine that they
are selling from $2 to $3 a bottle.

I hope that helps you. Please let me know what you
  decide to give your friend.

Thank you for your suggestions..they were all helpful but I was
looking for something real creative. I know I didn't specify that. I
want my gift to stand out.

Hi jlkut-ga,

How about using cameras and photos?

For example, you could give them two
disposable cameras. One goes to each person.
You also give $20 to each person.

Using $20, they each need to:

    1) create an event one night at 7:00. this
might be dinner. it might be a gift.
who knows -- it's up to them.
    2) they should photograph the event. this
       includes the preparation, presentation,
       and aftermath.
    3) they have to develop the photos.

You then issue a challenge to each person. The
person who gets the best photos can request any
favor they want from the other.

  How's that?

I agree with jlkut-this answer could have been a lot more creative. $5
won't get you very far, however. The shower has clearly passed, but
some good ideas for 7:00pm are as follows:
-Popcorn bowl and popcorn popper for a 7pm cable movie date.
-Set of handpainted dessert plates, mini stainless steel forks, a jar
of candied cherries and a canister of whipped cream for an
after-dinner dessert package.
-A collection of cheeses, cheese knives and cuttiing board for
after-dinner cheese course package.
-Set of pillowcases (most pillowcases come in sets of 2) and a bottle
of wine for an "early to bed" gift.

Happy showering!
