I'd like to be able to print decals on a low to mid-range color laser
printer (or equivalent device). I'm concerned that the colors (toners
or inks, etc.) will fade quickly in sunlight.

What print processes are the most resistant to fading? What decal
papers; inks; toners? If possible, include comparative empirical
data.

Screen printing on vinyl (either vinyl cling or adhesive vinyl)
produces the most fade-resistant product. That would entail a
screen-printing set-up with an ink dryer for the best results. Are
you interested in investing in the equipment to start a business of
this nature? I'm not certain whether you want pricing or if you want
to use an existing printer to do a home project.

Hey J!

I would prefer (merely due to the fact that I currently have the
equipment) to print from a color laser printer on decal paper.

However, I would consider investing in the equipment to print on
adhesive vinyl.

Comparative pricing would be valuable information.

Thanks!

Ms

Who made current your printer and what's the model/number? You'd need
to obtain permanent ink cartridges so the model needs to be known to
see if the fade resistant ink is available for your needs. There is
decal paper available for home printers.

I have an Okidata C7200. I have sucessfully used it to print on
various media (including decal paper), and the images have held up
pretty well in my very non-scientific tests....hanging it outside...
