I am looking to get the statistical breakdown of the number of
children
in the USA by age and gender - ie. there are 2 million girls age 5, 3
million girls age 6 etc..
ages 1 to 15

Hi,
It seems that the link is only temporary.  To reach the page with more
detailed statistics, go here:
http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/DTGeoSearchByListServlet?ds_name=DEC_2000_SF3_U&_lang=en&_ts=69184477234
Then Choose Nation, then Add the United States to the List.
Then choose P8-Sex by Age and add it to the list
Click on show table
This should show the table of data.
