Greetings, kristibweb!

First of all, there is good news: your Page Rank is not 0. You
actually don't have a Page Rank yet. You can tell this using the
Google Toolbar:
<http://toolbar.google.com>
If the Page Rank meter bar is white, it means that the page's rank is
0. If the Page Rank meter bar is grayed out, it means that the page
has not yet acquired a Page Rank.

I am puzzled, however, by your statement that you just launched your
website. This domain name has previously been crawled by the Googlebot
prior to April 1:

Are you saying that you have just re-launched the new design of your
website, or did you buy this website from someone else?

The fact that the Googlebot is already crawling your site is good. Now
you just have to work on things that will help you develop a good Page
Rank and cause your site to come up higher in Search Results.

Let's run your site through the Search Engine Spider Simulator at

Google and some other Search Engines now ignore meta tags because
webmasters were "stacking" them with hundreds of unrelated terms;
however, you will want to do a good job with your meta tags because
many Search Engines still look at them.

It looks like you have done a good job with your keyword phrases;
however, your keywords tag includes two sets of the same words. To the
Search Engines that still use meta keywords for indexing, this may
look like an attempt to spam with your keywords. I recommend that you
change them to something like:

frame, frames, picture frames, photo frames, photos, gift, gifts,
idea, ideas, wood, teak, rosewood, oak, natural, metal, silver, gold,
brass, antique, pewter, glass, floating, discount picture frames, box,
boxes, retail, retailer, wholesale, wholesaler

and other applicable (relevant) words. However, I wouldn't bother
trying to include more than 100 words, since many of the major Search
Engines no longer look at the keywords tag.

Now, for Google and other Search Engines that no longer look at <meta>
tags, the text on your main page pretty much looks like it already
includes all of the keywords from your <meta> keywords tag.

However, because Google and other Search Engines think that the Title
is an important piece of information about a page, I would recommend
changing your Title to:
<title>e-Picture Frames: Wood, Metal, Glass, and Specialty Photo
Frames -- Great as Gifts!</title>

Once you've got the changes to your new website ready to go, you will
want to submit it to Google at:
<://www.google.com/addurl.html>
(Be aware that it may take anywhere from 1 to 3 months for your site
to start showing up on Google; however, since Google also uses DMOZ as
a guide to its indexing efforts, you might be able to speed that up a
little by also submitting your site in a DMOZ category as described
next.)

  DMOZ (Directory Mozilla/Open Directory Project):
<http://www.dmoz.org/add.html>
FIRST: search using keywords that really describe your new
website to find the best category at <http://www.dmoz.org> , then
once you're on the page for the category you choose,
click on the blue "Add URL" hypertext link in the
upper right-hand corner of the page.
    For you, I recommend
Shopping: Photography: Albums and Frames
http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=Shopping/Photography/Albums_and_Frames

Other popular Search Engines to which you can submit your new site:

  HotBot:
<http://ldbreg.lycos.com/cgi-bin/mayaLogin?m_PR=29&m_CBURL=http://insite.lycos.com/searchservices/lite?step1.asp>

  AllTheWeb:
<http://www.alltheweb.com/add_url.php>

  AltaVista:
<http://addurl.altavista.com/addurl/new>

Zeal (LookSmart/MSN free submission w/free registration)
<http://www.zeal.com/users/register.jhtml>

To get a higher Google Page Rank, you should ask sites with ***similar
or related** themes to yours if they would place a link to your
website on theirs in exchange for you placing a link to their website
on yours. You will especially want to find other sites which already
have a Page Rank of 4 or higher.

Remember that links from a few ***quality*** sites with related themes
who link to only a few other pages (including yours) will do far more
to improve your Page Rank than links from one hundred other pages that
link to hundreds of sites.

CAUTION: Be wary of "submit-a-site", website "positioning", and
"search engine optimizer" services, and "link exchanges" (link farms),
who promise to increase your Page Rank in exchange for money (or for
free, for that matter). Such programs (like WebPosition Gold and
LinksToYou) are a good way to get your site banned from Search
Engines.

As far as linking to adult or casino sites, I would be **VERY**
careful about doing this. Such sites frequently participate in link
exchanges, or are "mirror" sites -- that is, the identical site is
copied over and over again at different domain names. The Googlebot is
very sophisticated, and it recognizes such sites as "spamming"
attempts to influence Search Results -- and it doesn't treat these
sites very kindly. If you link to sites that have been designated
"spam" sites, it could trash your rating with Google -- something that
is very difficult from which to recover.

You are far better off linking to sites with good Page Ranks that sell
gift items, picture frames, photofinishing services, cameras, films,
photo albums, and the like. The Googlebot will recognize that these
are related sites and probably treat you favorably.

Hi, kristiweb!

<< My queston is........
1. my website (www.epictureframes.com) Page Rank meter bar is
white ( 0/10), can you explain? >>

You are right, it is white rather than gray, which means your Page
Rank is zero. (My apologies for my original statement; I had just
installed a spyware-stopping program, which, unbeknownst to me, also
stopped my Google Toolbar Page Rank meter from working properly.)

It looks as though whoever owned your site prior to April 1 had
engaged in several questionable practices, and it is quite likely that
your site has been dropped by Google because of them.

The summary for the second result on this page of Search Results (for
pages which contain http://www.epictureframes.com) shows a date of
3/19/2003:

If you click on on the word "Cached" at the end of the second result,
it brings up Google's cached copy of the website on that date:
http://216.239.57.100/search?q=cache:1FYh-jQrTXEC:www.epictureframes.com/+%22%2Bwww.epictureframes.%2Bcom%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

As you can see from the left-hand menu, at that time the site
contained links to a lot of adult toys. Furthermore, at the bottom of
the page, a different URL is listed:
1-adult***toys-********s-*****s.com
and the link to the "webmaster" at the bottom of that page goes to:
webmaster@1-adult***toys-********s-*****s.com

In addition, the Search Results listed above contain lots of links to
pages which are no longer in existence, but which at one time
contained information on sex toys.

The Googlebot is an extremely sophisticated piece of software, and
while Google does not share the details of its algorithm, we do know
that it has been programmed to detect sites which it thinks are a
thinly-veiled attempt to position adult content on search result pages
for other, mainstream items. It is quite likely that the Googlebot
decided to drop your site for this reason.

Furthermore, the Googlebot tends to drop sites which participate in
"link farms", and because this site which links to yours also links to
hundreds of other sites, it is likely that the Googlebot considers it
a "link farm".
http://www.shop4candles.com/links.php/E/1.html

Finally, it looks like you have a similar site at:
http://www.e-picture-frames.com
It is quite possible that the Googlebot, which has also been
programmed to detect very similar sites with different URLs as
"copies" of each other, might consider the two sites an attempt to
"cheat" at getting increased Search Results placement.

How to try to recover from being banned by Google:

1) Cease participating in link farms. Get yourself de-listed
immediately from http://www.shop4candles.com/links.php/E/1.html
Work to get links to your sites on other sites which have a Page Rank
of 4 or higher, and which link to **only a few** other sites. Having
links on sites that link to hundreds of others not only does **not**
help, it actually harms your Page Rank in the Googlebot's eyes.

2) You offer reciprocal links to other sites:
http://www.epictureframes.com/add_links.asp
Be very sure that any links you place on these pages are closely
related to your website's theme, as I suggested above, such as gift
items, picture frames, photofinishing services, cameras, films, photo
albums, etc. Furthermore, you should be very selective about this, and
have no more than a dozen such "quality" outgoing links.

3) Be very careful to ensure that your content on
http://www.epictureframes.com
differs greatly from that on
http://www.e-picture-frames.com
so that the Googlebot does not think that they are duplicate sites.

4) Do not include adult content on your picture frames site, and do
not link to adult sites.

Then, write a profusely apologetic to the Powers That Google at
help@Google.com . Explain that you did not understand the concept of
"Link Farms", and that you did not realize what you were doing would
cause you to be banned from Google's index. Tell them that you have
repented from the error of your ways, and promise to never ever do it
again.

Although Google does not **have** to let banned sites back in to their
index, I DO know of sites that have been able to get re-listed by
cleaning up their act in this way.

<< As you said ".............To get a higher Google Page Rank, you
should
ask sites with ***similar or related** themes to yours............"

My question is .........
2. what is criteria to distinguish(know) for a similar( releated)
themes to my product lines? >>

The Googlebot knows if sites are truly related, because they will have
lots of key words in their text in common: pictures, photos, frames,
etc. However, the Googlebot is also smart enough to know if a website
provides content on two **very** different themes, such as picture
frames and adult content.

<< My friends own website that selling lingerie
(www.1-sexy-lingerie-wear.com), Bronze
(www.1-bronze-ceramics-wood-gifts-decorative.com), and adult video and
toys.

Would you please educate or give me some ideas of the business types
that related to each website mentioned above, so I can have some ideas

It appears that this additional Question has launched us into areas
that, while related, are beyond the scope and price of your original
Question on http://www.epictureframes.com . I encourage you to post
this additional Question as a new Question, so that it can be fully
addressed and so that you can receive a complete Answer.

Best wishes!

First off - I am dubious if you are really banned or penalized if you
just started the website that recently. If you have a PR0, it may be
that Google just "knows" about your website and may have a rank
between 0-1. The toolbar would still show as a 0 until you have a full
integer, however since its only been one month its a little early to
be worrying.
Secondly, I dont believe that Google penalizes for incoming links as
long as you are not reciprocating. If they did, competitors of
business sites on the web would just add links to linkfarms to their
competitors sites to get them banned.
Third, Google is now resetting "expired" domains rankings so that they
can start clean when someone buys the domain, to prevent speculators
from buying domains with existing PR and using it to link to their own
other sites for a boost. This would get rid on any previous bans or
bad standings the domain had in the past.
It normally takes 2 full cycles of Google updates to get a site
completely indexed by Google, sometimes even longer. I think you are
worrying too early
I am not an expert, these are just my observations and research for my
own sites.
