Greetings, neologist!

Even though if you do a Google Search on "www.namebase.com" and your
site is not indexed, Google still shows a number of pages which
contain your domain name:

Although you are not now listed in the Google Directory:
http://directory.google.com/Top/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Consulting/Branding/

You were indeed indexed in the Google Directory (DMOZ) at one point,
so I imagine that you were indexed in Google Searches as well:
http://216.239.33.100/search?q=cache:dLIRpKeR1eYC:directory.google.com/Top/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Consulting/Branding/+%22%2Bwww.namebase.%2Bcom%22&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

I suspect that the reason you are no longer indexed in Google is that
you are participating in a "Link Exchange", also known as a "Link
Farm". Google does NOT like link farms, as it considers them to be
sneaky attempts to circumvent the Googlebot's Page Ranking algorithm.
When Google catches a site doing this sort of thing, they are usually
terminated from Google's index with prejudice.

Furthermore, these nearly identical sites also look quite suspicious
to me:

Since these pages are in Google's cached pages, and they all now
either are defunct or resolve to
http://www.getfound.com/bin/gethtmlcustom.asp?...

this company may have gotten their act together so that they no longer
contain hundreds of domain names with the same results. However, I
recommend that when you contact Google, you ask them about it to be
sure.

How you recover from being banned by Google:

Get yourself de-listed immediately from the www.nameworks.es link
farm.

Then, write a profusely apologetic to the Powers That Google at
help@Google.com. Explain that you did not understand the concept of
"Link Farms", and that you did not realize that getting listed on
http://www.nameworks.es and http://www.getfound.com would cause you to
be banned from Google's index. Tell them that you have repented from
the error of your ways, and promise to never ever do it again.

Although Google does not **have** to let banned sites back in to their
index, I DO know of sites that have been able to get re-listed by
cleaning up their act in this way.

thank you for the info. I suspect that it may be because of some misc
keywords I had on the site that I have now since removed. My main
question is this: How long do I have to wait to get re-listed? and
is there any telephone support at google at all?

Clarification of Answer by aceresearcher-ga on 24 Apr 2003 16:27 PDT
Thanks for your response, neologist.

It is not likely that anything you did with keywords got you banned.
Google and many other Search Engines do not even look at <meta> tags
now, because webmasters used to try to "stack" them with hundreds of
unrelated terms in order to get better Search Results placement.
Google looks at the **text** on your site, who you link to, and who
links to you.

Google does not provide support access by phone, because they would be
inundated with calls by the millions of website owners all over the
world. The best way to get your needs addressed would be to use the
e-mail address I provided of help@Google.com .

As far as when, or even if, you will be re-listed, that is a question
that you will have to ask of the Google Support team at
help@Google.com .

Best wishes,

ace

It does not look like your site has been banned from google...just not
indexed by them (your page rank is grey not white). I am assuming you
have added your URL to them? If so and you are not getting indexed
check out a file called robots.txt. I could not find one for you but
you should have one on your server. Check out
http://www.traffick.com/print.asp?aID=99 for information on this file.
It can stop search engines from properly indexing a site. Good luck!
