Can you find a copy of a book titled: The Intelligent Students Guide to German

Probably went out of print in the 1950's 60's

I have found this book -- with a slightly different title, and only in
libraries. I have seen it from as late as 1944 -- perhaps there are
later editions as well.

Would you be satisfied to see this book at a library? If so, in what
general area would you be able to travel to a library?

Thanks you for your speedy response. I would be happy to be able to
see a copy of the book in a library if it was in the UK, preferably in
London.

Hello theshiel-ga,

The book is "The intelligent students guide to modern German",
sometimes subtitled "a methodical study of German vocabulary and
grammar based on Gerstäcker's well-known story 'Germelshausen'". It
was by W.E. (William Edwin) Weber. It appears that your belief that
it went out of print in the 1950s or 1960s is correct: there was a
publication in 1962.

Here is a listing of the books held by the British Library and other
large university libraries in the UK:

"COPAC Brief Records - Search terms: intelligent student's guide to
modern german ; ranked"
COPAC
http://www.copac.ac.uk/copac/wzgw?fs=Search&form=A%2FT&id=1847649&au=&cau=&ti=intelligent+student%27s+guide+to+modern+german&pub=&isn=&date=&lang=

You can also view the records for the three British Library copies by
searching for this title on the British Library Public Catalogue (
http://blpc.bl.uk/ ).

The British Library has certain restrictions on using the reading
rooms. You will likely want to review these restrictions and contact
the library before attempting to go there:

"The Reading Rooms at St Pancras: Information about admission"
The British Library
http://www.bl.uk/services/reading/admissions.html

If the British Library is not prepared to grant you admisssion until
you have exhausted other sources, then you should contact your local
public library. A librarian there should be able to determine whether
your book is otherwise available, or whether the British Library is
your only option.

"Public Libraries on the Web"
The UK Public Libraries Page
http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/town/square/ac940/weblibs.html

I hope that this information is helpful.

Search strategy (after finding nothing initially on the web or used
book search engines):

Searched the British Library's Public Catalogue, and later COPAC, for
the title:

intelligent student's
intelligent student's guide to modern german

Browsed the British Library web site for information on public access

Searched on Google for:

uk libraries

Small correction: one word in the title should be "student's", not
"students". The plural form occurs on certain records, but it appears
that the possessive form is the actual word in the title.
