Hi Tracy,

The question might be hard to answer, especially with the restrictions
you give regarding websites. The education system in Shanghai pre-1949
was rather divers as it was an city rules by a mixture of foreign
forces, that had brought their own French, British, American, Japanese
educational system in addition to the Chinese system.
If you are lucky there might be some academic sources to answer your
questions, but I doubts whether this information is available online.
