I would like to access an operation manual for an Akai video cassette
recorder (VHS) with the model number VSG745. A downloadable PDF or
printable website (or should that be web site or Web site? ;)  would
be excellent.

Specifically, I need instructions to (1) tune in the television
stations again (helpful husband keeps 'fine tuning' and losing the
free to air stations) so that we can record from television again and
(2) to work out which cable goes where: video,  television, foxtel
satellite box and stereo, (all of which worked in multifunctional
harmony until helpful nieces fiddled around with them in a fruitless
effort to playback a Buffy video. I felt a  bit 'slayerish' when I
discovered that it wouldn't play, record or let us watch television
through it or have the sound coming through the stereo).

FYI, we're in Australia.

Thanks for that, tppg. If I can't get a downloadable version, I'll
probably go ahead with your suggestion. At this stage, however, I'd
rather not have to delay a couple of weeks while it gets shipped over,
unless I absolutely have to. I wanna watch a video today! :-(
