Hi, ngang!

Have you tried contacting Cambridge University? They would surely be
your best source for authenticating such documents.

In reply to request bt angy-ga, the answer is: Cambridge Univ., UK.

In reply to aceresearcher-ga, yes, I have e-mailed Cambridge Univ.
direct a while ago, but have received no reply. I will up the ante to
$15.00 for each question (tell me how to do this) if you can find the
answers for me soon, as I have to make a decision soon on whether to
hire someone.

Hi ngang,
The answer I have is the email I received as I mentioned in my
clarification. The answers to questions 2 and 3 are straightforward.
However your first question is more or less confidential.
Let me know what you decide. Thanks.

Hi ngang,

Below are the answers to your questions I had inquired to the Student
Records & Statistics at the University of Cambridge. I have formatted
it in a way that your questions are followed by the reply I received
from the University.

(1) What do the following Cambridge University degrees, Official
Transcripts, & any other accompanying graduation documents look like
for their respective years in brackets:
B.A. (1st Class Honours) in Natural Science Tripos (1974) and Master
of Science in Biochemistry (1975)?

“We provide a verification service where this information for past
students can be confirmed. Any enquiries of this nature should
approach us directly.
For security reasons we are unable to release information on the style
of documents we issue.”

***************************************

(2) Who would have been the actual signatories in the above documents
for that period of time?

“The Registrary would have signed such a document, and it would be
countersigned by the Registrary's clerk.”

***************************************

(3) Would a student who had enrolled for any of the above courses been
given a certificate of registration (of admission to the course) or
enrollment (to the course), and if so, who would be the signatories on
such a document at those times?

“No.”

Response to rainbow-ga: Not really the answer to what I was trying to
get. In (2), I already have the 2 names (Registrary & Registrary's
Clerk) & I wanted to see if you would be able to get the names so I
can cross-check against the ones I have [Remember, my #(2) question
says "actual signatories for that period of time"]. I will directly
contact Cambridge myself & seek a verfication directly.

Hello ngang,
I apologize for misunderstanding your second question. I guess neither
the Student Records Office nor I realized you wanted the name of the
person who was Registrary at that time.
If there is anything further I can assist you with please let me know.
Best regards,
rainbow-ga

Hello ngang,

The following is the reply I received from the Registrary Office of
the University of Cambridge:

“The Registrary from 1 October 1969 until 30 September 1983 was Mr.
R.E. Macpherson
The Registrary's Clerk until 1979 was Mr. R.F. Harrison
I hope that this is helpful.”

other questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I will assist you as
best as I can.

To rainbow-ga: Thanks for the info. I already had R.E.Macpherson's
name & R.F.Harrison's name (apart from that of the Vice-Chancellor's).
However, there is an Official Transcript (of Exam results), as alluded
to in parts (1)& (2) of my Question that I would like you to address.

Clarification of Answer by rainbow-ga on 30 Apr 2003 15:21 PDT
Hello ngang,

As noted in the answer to question #1 from the Student Records Office,
any inquiries should be approached directly to the University. As I do
not have the name of the person in question, and giving personal
information on Google Answers is against the TOS, it would be best if
you inquired about this directly. I'm sure if you approached them with
the reason you are inquiring about this they will give you the
information you need. However, keep in mind they do not release
information on what the transcripts look like for security reasons but
will use their own verification service to confirm the person's
graduation.

If you have any other questions regarding my answer, please don't
hesitate to ask.
Best regards,
rainbow-ga
Reason this answer was rejected by ngang-ga:
My qusetion had 3 parts. & only 1 part could be answered definitively
with a simple "yes" or "no" answer. The other 2 could not be answered.
Of these 2, the one part the reseracher tried to answer did not
address the specificity I had originally addressed in that part, &
hence the general answer given was something I already knew.

Inquiries about whether a degree is genuine are all in a day's work
for most British universities.
I think the right person to contact at Cambridge is "the registrary".
See:
http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/registrary/

The other possibility is the student records office:

Hello ngang,

You wrote:

"I will up the ante to $15.00 for each question (tell me how to do
this) if you can find the answers for me soon, as I have to make a
decision soon on whether to hire someone."

One can only change the pricing of a question while it remains
unanswered. Your initial query listed at $10 for the answer to all
three of your questions. (As opposed to $10 each or $30 total.) In
order for each question to have been charged at $10, you would have
had to list them separately.

Since your question has already been answered, you can "up the ante",
so to speak, by leaving the desired amount as a tip for your
Researcher. There is a "tip" function available at the time you rate
your answer.

Hope this helps!
