Hello lollardo

There's promising news of a video/DVD "to be released in spring 2003",
available by mail order from an English address. I called to check
whether it has been released yet but there was no answer. Do you want
to wait for me to make contact with them before answering your
question (probably Monday if they work a five day week) or would you
rather have all the details right now?
This looks like a reputable business, by the way.

Just let us know what you'd prefer.

Leli

Lollardo - sorry, but now I have investigated further I find that this
video is a study guide/ resource, not the actual play.
I hope another researcher will be able to help.

Hi! Thanks for the question.

I was able to find the two online stores that sell this rather hard to
find video. Both are in VHS format> I could not find one in dvd. This
is the 1962 film version of Arthur Miller's play, "A View From The
Bridge". It was directed by Sidney Lumet.

A View From The Bridge (1962) ($23.74) (VHS Format)

Hollywood's Attic's View From The Bridge, A ($29.95)

Search at Google and Froogle for the terms:
"A View From The Bridge" video vhs dvd

I hope these links would help you in your research. Before rating this
answer, please ask for a clarification if you have a question or if
you would need further information.

Hi again lollardo-ga!

It just occured to me after talking it out with my fellow researchers
that since you are in the UK, you might have some trouble playing a
vhs from the US if you are in the UK because of the diffence in video
systems. US (NTSC format) while it is PAL in the UK.

I was not able to find any available video of the film in the UK
except for this two online stores which are most likely located in the
US.

One way to view them is to use (and if you own) VHS Multisystems or
those in dual formats.

Thanks again!

My friend Pinkfreud-ga actually suggested the dual-system VHS
solution.

This time another researcher who is also a good friend Feilong-ga
referred me to a previous answer of his which solved this problem. I
will quote the part which is relevant to our discussion.

--------------

The VHS version available is in NTSC format. Most of Australia use PAL
as so unless your player can support it, you may not be able to view
it if your player is suited only for PAL format. Check your VHS player
and TV manual regarding this.

You have three options just in case:

1) You can get the NTSC release and have a video specialist in your
area convert it to PAL format.

2) You can wait until a VHS PAL version is released, but that could be
a long wait.

3) You can get a transcoder such as the KDV-500 to convert NTSC to PAL
so you can watch it. It may be a bit pricey but it will solve both
your DVD and VHS coding problems in the future. No more worries
regardign what format you're going to get in the future.

Thanks: I've ordered the "resource pack" which, apparently, includes
the video. Top stuff!

Today I got an email saying that the video/DVD which is *not* a
production of View from the Bridge, but a "resource" for schools, is
available. Here's the link:
