I am hoping to open a rum cake business. I am not rich and don't have alot of money to do this. How can I start this business? I have never done this before? Also, what is the best rum to use for a medium to strong tasting rum cake without using the most expensive rum? |

Hello Gigi. Starting and operating a business is a very complicated venture indeed. Rather than write out a business plan for you which would be impossible given that this is a $15 question and I don't know the details of what exactly you are trying to accomplish, I will give you a list of resources on starting up a small business that you wil find very useful. U.S. Small Business Administration: http://www.sba.gov/starting/ Business Town: http://www.businesstown.com/ Business Know How: http://www.businessknowhow.com/bkhstartup.htm Business Nation:http://www.businessnation.com/index.html Entrepeneur.com: http://www.entrepreneur.com/bizstartups/0,4235,,00.html Startup Biz: http://www.startupbiz.com/ Small Business Resources: http://www.smallbusinessresources.com/ You'll find tons more here: http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Business_to_Business/Small_Business_Information/ I would also highly recommend getting some good books on the subject: Starting a Small Bakery: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1853394076 The Bakers Trade: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0963937162 Baking for Profit Successful Business Planning: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0967840228/ The Mcgraw Hill Guide to Starting a Small Business: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0070266875 If You're Clueless About Small Business: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1574100939 For rum my personal favorite is Captain Morgan although for a cheaper, but still good Rum I would go for Ron Rico. Wishing you the best in your business venture! -shiva777 |
