USA Olympic was a housebrand for JC Penney.

<http://www.jcpenneyinc.com/company/history/milestn/milestn9.htm>
"1978: The Company launches its USA Olympic brand of athletic apparel.
Over the next 20 years the brand generates some $40 million in
royalties, which support the training of American Olympic athletes."

Another company may have made the sweats for Penney's, putting the
Penney USA Olympic brand on them, and may still be making them under a
different brand.

handygirl...

The last reference I found for the USA Olympic Brand was
for a jacket manufactured in 1999. I spoke with Margaret
at Penney's Recall Hotline, who could not locate the brand
in their updated system, or in older catalogs. She suggested
that the Corporate Office would be able to help connect you
with the right department when they open on Monday morning.

The phone number for the Corprate Headquarters is:
972-431-1000. Perhaps you or another researcher can
follow up with this on Monday.

Dear handygirl,

It might be interesting to know that the current owner of the
trademark "USA Olympic" (related explicitly to all kinds of clothing)
is, since November 2001, the United States Olympic Committee. So if
there are any clothes under the "USA Olympic" brand, it's not what JC
Penny used to sell, but the new merchandise of the USOC.

Scriptor
