I am basically in a bad postions I have to write a script for these
unix commands to work on a windows machine by Tues. To me this will be
very difficult to do. Could I get the help of one of your experienced
bash scripters?

cat join or display files
comm compare sorted files
diff display the differences between two files
grep search for a pattern in files
head display the beginning of a file
mv move (rename) a file

here are the options that I have to give them:
cat -b -n -s
comm -1 -2 -3
diff -c[n] -e
grep -c -i -l -n -v
head [-number] [file-list]
mv -f -i -

Hi dubbs123-ga,

I noticed you posted this question twice...please confirm if you meant
to do this (to get two versions of the program). Otherwise, please
close the session that you don't want answered to avoid being charged
twice.

Thanks,

Yes, please clarify: you want a perl script to emulate cat, etc? Or
you want a perl script to call/invoke cat, etc? cat is available on
Bash/Windows so we're a little confused as to what you want. Thanks.

Hi dubbs123,

does anything speak against using one of the unix emulation projects
like Cygwin ( http://www.cygwin.com/http://www.cygwin.com/ ) - or are
you required to reinvent the wheel *g*?
