Whenever the Olympics come round, I am always impressed by the male
gymnasts. These guys have speed, strength, flexibility, and
co-ordination. If I could do a fraction of the stuff they can, I’d be
pretty pleased with my life.

What I want to know is what training regime they follow. What
exercises do they do, how long do they train, how often, etc.

Also, I’d like to know what diet they follow. What foods do they eat,
what foods do they avoid, how often do they eat, what supplements do
they take, etc.

Here is a link with a strengh-training routine for gymnastics (The
routine is very similar to the one in the book "Getting Stronger" by
Bill Pearl): http://www.chap.com/sp-gym-c.htm

Here is another link that has more specific information but does not
actually give specific excercizes:
http://www.education.ed.ac.uk/cis/gym/papers/smj.html

Here is a link that describes the Ukraine Men's Gymnastic Olympic Team
dietary regime: http://www.med.unc.edu/medal/olympicgold/trainingregime.htm

Finally this site: http://www.drillsandskills.com/ gives instructions
on actually doing basic gymnastics skills.

They more than likely train everyday....whether it be a simple 15 min
of stretching or a long run...it is their career/job at the time.

Almost everyone would have the 'body' or 'ability' they wanted if they
dedicated only a hour a week to it (the old 20mins x 3 is true).

Diet plays a key also, but most people do ok...

You wouldn't be a Conan the Barbarian or an Olympian, but you'd be in
nice shape/ability.
