How many college students are full-time enrolled in accredited U.S. institutions? What is the average number of students per school (or, provide the number of schools, same thing). I would need to know the date (i.e. year) of the data that this answer is based on. Thanks. |

Hello Kensch-ga, Everything you could possibly want to know (and more) about higher-education statistics can be found on, where else, the Statistics Page of the U.S. Department of Education. In particular, their Digest of Education Statistics, 2001 can be found at: http://nces.ed.gov//pubs2002/digest2001/tables/dt244.asp Amidst hundreds of tables of data, you will find the following (from Chapter 3 which focuses on higher education): Table 244. Degree-granting institutions, by control and type of institution: 1949-50 to 2000-01 2000-01 ........4,182 institutions in the U.S. Table 174. Total fall enrollment in degree-granting institutions, by attendance status, sex, and age: 1970 to 2011 [In thousands] 2000....14,979 2001....15,300 15 million students / 4,182 colleges = 3,586 per school, on average Hope that does the trick, but if anything is not clear, just let me know through a Request for Clarification, and I'll be happy to assist you further. |
