Question ID: 196777
I have 30GB of music in MP3 format. I ripped this music at 160 kbps.
Now I want to upgrade to 320 kbps. The problem is that if I re-rip
and use CDDB, I will lose my customized tags. How can I re-rip the
music, but keep my existing tags? Import/export of tags? Make my own
CDDB server? I run Max OSX.

Hi dellisny,

Here is a program that will allow you to export your mp3 tags:
http://www.herve-thouzard.com/therenamea.phtml

Are you aware that there are free services that will automatically
detect the music you have and download the appropriate mp3 tags for
them? This would allow you to avoid having to import/export tags. Of
course, it depends what kind of cds these are, they might not be
available on the centralized servers with the info.

This program will allow you to export your tags into excel and use
"drag & drop mp3 tag editing":
http://www.vallen.de/freeware/#Vallen%20JPegger

Unfortunately both of these programs are for the Windows platform and
my ibook does not have an internet connection available at this point,
so I am unable to provide you with an official answer for this because
I am unable to verify if it will work.

Here are some mp3 tag applications for mac you can try:
This one seems the most promising:

Two others:

If this comment helps you achieve your solution, please let me know so
I can submit it as an answer. Otherwise, perhaps another researcher
will be able to help you.
