I'm searching for a comprehensive list of businesses classified by the
US Postal Service as a CMRA (Commercial Mail Receiving Agency).
Mailboxes, Etc., PakMail, PostNet, and other private mailbox companies
fall into this category.

I need the list to import into an application that I've developed to
assist with fraud screening. I need the name and address of every
registered CMRA in the US.

I've been able to determine that there are about 10,000 businesses
classified as a CMRA, and most are small-business franchise owners.
I've found several Postal Service applications that will "test" an
address and return an indicator of CMRA status, but they won't export
the data, and are part of larger applications that cost $10,000 per
year.

The lookup services on the companies' websites show only a few
locations at a time, so they're not useful for this purpose.

Ideally, the list would exist on the website of a reputable source
(perhaps also used for fraud screening purposes). I've tried mailing
list companies, but they're very expensive, and the data seems to be
incomplete or incorrect.

Thanks!

I might have found a company that can
do it for cheap. They do address validation
or as they call it Delivery Sequence File (DSF)
the price is $1.95 per thousand. But the good
news is a new product they have coming called
Delivery Point Validation (DPV) that will..

"DVP also appends a code to indicate whether the
address is a Commercial Mail Receiving Agency (CMRA)
such as Mail Boxes Etc..."

If they know this maybe you can buy their CMRA list
that validates the delivery address.

BizInsight an Experian company may also do it
their DSF service can...

"The DSF flags Commercial Mail Receiving
Companies (CMRA's). These commercial mailbox
companies require the Personal Mailbox number (PMB)
in the address lines in order to receive delivery by the USPS."

Hi, Oracledave,

Neither of those companies can provide a list of CMRA addresses. DSF
and DPV can be used to check an existing list of addresses, but they
cannot be used to export a list of CMRA's.

This is from the website....DSF is what you need.

"DSF is a USPS-licensed database that contains every valid delivery
point in the U.S. The more than 140 million delivery points are
updated monthly. DSF differs from ZIP+4 processing by listing specific
addresses versus address ranges. DSF provides delivery point
information to all matches, such as seasonal address, vacant address,
business versus residential delivery, **********and Commercial Mail
Receiving Agency (CMRA)address.********** We also provide our own DSF
Deliverability Groupings: Potentially Undeliverable, Questionable,
Changed-Good Deliverable and Good Deliverable"

Hi, Oracledave,

Thanks for your clarification. Unfortunately, it's impossible to
export a list of addresses from the encrypted DSF data. The database
will only "test" an address, and return an indicator if the address is
a CMRA.

There's no way to export data from the DSF or DPV databases, so they
can't provide the list that I need.
