Thanks for asking!

I've gathered Internet published statistics from a variety of sources.
I will quote excerpts, and provide links to the relevant stats.

MARKETING STATISTICS 1998-2003
**********************************************************************

Advances Seen in Table Grape Patenting-Licensing Plan
*****************************************************

"The California table grape industry, which supplies 97 percent of the
U.S. fresh grape output, produced a record 95 million, 19-pound boxes
in 2002, exceeding the 82.4 million boxes of 2001 and the previous
record of 90.4 million set in 1997.

Returns for 2002, however, reflected the general agricultural turndown
and average prices per box lagged 17 cents from the five-year average.

Exports for the 2002-2003 season totaled nearly 35.4 million boxes,
valued at more than nearly $385 million and continuing the expanding
worldwide demand for fresh California grapes. The top ten markets were
Canada, Mexico, China, Malaysia, Philippines, United Kingdom, Taiwan,
Singapore, Indonesia, and Guatemala."

2002 Season International Exports
*********************************

"Exports of California table grapes were once again an industry bright
spot for the 2001-2002 season. The export totals through November 2001
show a value increase of 15 percent over the previous season and
volume up by 8 percent. The previous season was a record for the
California table grape industry. In markets with active promotion by
the California Table Grape Commission, nearly 19 million 21-pound
boxes were sent overseas and to Mexico with a value of more than
$240,385,302. In Asia alone, the volume shipped increased 17 percent
and the value was up by 30 percent. “The numbers through November are
excellent,” said Kathleen Nave, president of the California Table
Grape Commission. “When the final numbers are in for 2001, it should
be another record year for exports.” In addition to increased
shipments, another export success story for 2001 was the addition of
India as an export market. After four years of negotiations, the first
shipment of California table grapes arrived in India in September,
becoming one of the industry's top 20 export markets in its first
year. With a population of one billion, many of whom are vegetarian,
the long-range export potential to India is excellent. “We are pleased
with the numbers coming from India after such a short time,” Nave
said. “We anticipate that India will quickly become an even larger
market for California table grapes.” California table grape exports
worldwide have continued to grow year after year. Since 1994, exports
have increased by 74 percent. The California Table Grape Commission is
the promotional arm of the state's table grape industry and its more
than 600 farmers. The commission promotes table grapes in the United
States and in approximately 21 countries worldwide. Each year,
California farmers produce upwards of 85 million boxes of table
grapes."

Table Grape Promotions Increase in Canada (2001)
************************************************

"California table grapes are once again headed for another strong year
of retail promotions in Canada. During the 2000 season, the California
Table Grape Commission assisted with more than 100 retail promotions
and the number of promotions for 2001 is expected to be even larger.
“Canada has always been a strong market for California table grapes,”
said Kathleen Nave, president of the commission. “But in recent years,
we've been able to forge strong alliances with Canadian retailers and
distributors. As a result, we have more retailers promoting California
grapes more often.” The commission's director of advertising and
merchandising, Dennis James, was recently elected to the board of
directors for the Canadian Produce Marketing Association. “The
California table grape industry's commitment to the CPMA has made a
big difference in the ability to reach out to retailers, distributors
and consumers in Canada,” said James. In the June issue of Chatelaine,
Canada's premiere women's magazine, a California table grape recipe is
featured as part of a CPMA “5 to 10 a day” produce promotion. The
Toronto Sun newspaper also ran a two-page feature on California table
grapes as a result of the commission's outreach to newspaper food
editors. “From consumer publications to in-store promotions,
California grapes will be a season-long presence in the Canadian
marketplace,” said James."

"As California's table grape farmers prepare their vineyards for the
2001 season, the final numbers for last year's crop show that 2000 was
a record-breaking year for exports.

Nearly twenty million 21-pound boxes of California table grape were
sent overseas and to Mexico. The total value was $240,766,903. The
2000 export numbers are a 29 percent increase in volume and a 28
percent increase in value over the previous year. “California's table
grape farmers have good reason to be proud of these numbers,” said
Kathleen Nave, president of the California Table Grape Commission.
“Despite increased competition worldwide, they grow an excellent
product that is in high demand all over the world.”

The commission assisted export sales with promotion programs in 21
countries and generated substantial increases in exports as a result.
The targeted markets, including Hong Kong, Mexico, China and the
Central American region, increased 29 percent in volume and 28 percent
in value compared to only an 11 percent increase in volume and no
increase in value for foreign markets that were not targeted with
commission promotions."

2000 Season - China Open to California Table Grape Exports
**********************************************************

"Grapes can enter China through six ports of entry, including the
major economic centers of Guangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai and Tianjin.

California Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, who is on a trade
mission in Chile, issued a statement to commend the action. "Table
grapes are one of the Golden State's top exports, and we look forward
to this success in this important new market," said Veneman.

The California table grape industry exported 121,000 metric tons of
grapes to offshore markets last year, with 75 percent of those exports
going to Pacific Rim countries."

World Table Grape Situation and Outlook 2002-3
**********************************************

"United States - The table grape industry continues to successfully
market its grapes overseas. In 2001, approximately 298,918 tons were
shipped at a value of $389 million. Although exports to the largest
market, Canada, declined slightly, moderate increases to the United
Kingdom and strength in the Hong Kong and Malaysian markets helped to
offset any declines. The second largest market for U.S. grapes
continues to be Hong Kong with shipments to Malaysia, our fifth
largest market, posting large increases during 2001."

2002 Crop Pricing Statistics
****************************

"California grape growers received prices in 2002 for raisin, table,
white and red wine grapes that were, on average, less than the 2001
prices. The 2002 average price of all varieties was $460.27, down 17
percent from 2001. Average prices for the 2002 crop by type were as
follows: red wine grapes, $612.83, down 10 percent from 2001; white
wine grapes, $428.18, down 13 percent from 2001; raisin grapes,
$75.51, down 12 percent; and table grapes, $80.49, down 8 percent.
These price levels have not been adjusted for inflation."

DOMESTIC PROMOTIONS
**********************************************************************

California Campaign Bears Fruit
*******************************

"For the first time, table grapes will have the full force of the
statewide advertising push when they go head-to-head against Mexican
grapes in the produce aisle this spring. "Research has always shown
that California consumers want to buy California produce, and
oftentimes they think they are when they aren't," Nave said.

The homegrown message should change that by making it clear which
grapes come from California. Also, said Nave, retailers are more
likely to stock California grapes once they realize there's a
multimillion-dollar advertising push to help them sell product."

Table Grapes Reclaim a Market (2002)
************************************

"The industry's investment in new, late-season table grape varieties
is paying off. As the marketing season trails to an end, the numbers
indicate that California is reclaiming the late-market window. This is
evident from the unusually large volume of red California grapes
available in the last months of the year. At the end of November, 2.5
million boxes of Crimson Seedless were in storage, compared to 1.3
million boxes at the same time the previous year."

"California is European grape country and produces 98 percent of
America's table grape crop. In a recent year the crop exceeded 50
million twenty three pound boxes of table grapes and the supply barely
met the demand. The ever growing popularity of table grapes is thanks
to the efforts of the California Table Grape Commission, whose ad
campaigns feature the flavor, nutritional value, and convenience of
their product. In the past ten years America's per capita consumption
has almost tripled."
